Gallery Overview

Browse the photo galleries of some of the projects Woody has created that now reside in homes and businesses around the southeastern US.

Ask about the characteristics and beauty of each type of wood: black walnut, maple, sycamore, white oak, box elder maple, cedar… some with spalting and/or ambrosia features.

Woody uses downed trees and trees removed from properties for construction, and many magnificent trees that are currently coming from the extensive wreckage that hurricane Helene unleashed. What better way to honor the lives of these trees than to be reminded of their beauty every day in a handcrafted piece of furniture or art.

I specialize in creating live-edge tables. Different finishes are used appropriate to the intended use and location of the finished piece, as well as customer preference. I never use stains on the wood. Rubio Monocoat is my go-to for indoor furniture: it is the only interior all-natural wood sealer with no toxic ingredients. Unlike most oils that are laced with toxic solvents, Rubio Monocoat is plant-based, 100% VOC-free and has virtually no odor.

And for commercial bartops and outdoor furniture, the customer will often opt for epoxy: it gives a hard, impermeable surface that stands up to constant and sometimes hard use.

Tables. Large. Small. And in between. Dining tables, coffee tables, side tables. With mineral-illuminated watershed maps, or just a touch of color, or simply the grandeur of the wood itself. Your choice.

Most of the tables shown here are commissions. The customer chooses the wood, the table’s legs (ordered or crafted by Woody), and other details, sometimes including a watershed or landscape special to them engraved and filled with mineral-based pigments that glow in the dark.

Bartops. Make time with friends even more memorable with a custom bartop to start conversations. Or something cool for that man-cave…

Can’t decide between a dining table and a bartop? Make it a bartop and use bar stools or bar chairs to give it double-duty.

Woody's signature Foxfire tables

And whatever else you might dream up in wood — mantels, commemorative plaques, wall art, a large case for a historic canoe…

…including Woody’s signature Foxfire tables: scorched wood embedded with mineral-glow pigments. There is nothing else like them.
